About Mr Priy Silva

Mr Priy Silva is an experienced Consultant ENT / Head and Neck surgeon, he has been a doctor for over 20 years and a Consultant for over 10 years. He has an NHS practise based at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He practises privately out of the Nuffield Manor Hospital and Genesis care in Oxford.

In addition to his general adult and paediatric ENT practice, he holds subspecialty interests in cancers of the head and neck, as well as the anterior and lateral skull base. He undertakes the full range of cancer procedures involving the head and neck. Routinely working with the neurosurgical and plastic surgical teams for complex head and neck operations. He also undertakes Robotic Head & Neck Surgery with the latest Da Vinci System.

Medical Background

Graduating from Medical school in 1999, he completed his higher surgical training in Manchester working with leaders in the field. He undertook a 2 year period of postgraduate research in head and neck cancer at the renowned Christie Cancer Centre. It was here he was awarded his MD. He has presented this work both nationally and internationally.

Undertaking 2 advanced surgical fellowships in head and neck surgery initially for two years in Oxford and a further year in Australia, he was subsequently appointed as a Consultant in Oxford. A core member of both the head and neck and skull base MDT groups. He is Chair of the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance Group for the Thames Valley Cancer Network, as well as Clinical Lead for ENT in Oxford.

Priy continues to maintain an interest in clinic research. He has published in excess of 30 peer reviewed articles in medical literature and has presented on a national and international level. He is currently a member of the guidelines development group for Mucosal Melanomas of the head and neck.

Actively involved in the Medical school head and neck anatomy teaching programme at the University of Oxford. He has an interest in Clinical negligence and Medicolegal work. He is an Expert Witness for the GMC (General Medical Council).

As an experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon, he recognises the importance of being able to see the correct appropriately qualified specialist who can help manage the problems which a patient may face. He also understands the minefield which patients may have to negotiate before they get to see the right individual and receive the best treatment.
